Adam Fredric Duritz is a popular American musician, lyricist, frontman record producer, vocalist and filim producer. He is popular as the founding member of the famous band Counting Crows. This award winning musician owns two record labels – E Pluribus Unum co-founded in 1997 and Tyrannosaurus Record, founded in 2007. Duritz was associated with another famous band, ‘The Himalayans’, before he launched his own record labels. He was also a judge for the 10th annual ‘Independent Music Awards’ launched to support the career aspirations of independent artists.

Early Life & Career

Adam Duritz belongs to a Jewish family. He was born on 1 August 1964 in Baltimore, United States. He attended Head-Royce School, followed by Taft School. He then joined University of California, Davis and the University of California, Berkeley, but dropped out from the course.
Duritz started his career in music with a few bands like the Mod-L Society and Sordid Humor in the San Francisco Bay Area. In 1990, Duritz, along with Bryson, formed a music band, ‘The Himalayans’. His famous work ‘’Round Here’ was written during this time. He then joined forces with The Wallflowers, a rock band led by Jakob Dylan, on the music album titled ‘Bringing Down the Horse’. He then associated with the ‘Counting Crows’. Duritz co-founded the band E Pluribus Unum in 1997 and another boutique record label ‘Tyrannosaurus Records’ in 2007. He also worked as executive producer for Hollywood films like ‘The Locusts’ and ‘Burn’. He also appeared in the popular mockumentary film ‘Farce of the Penguins’ in 2009. He teamed up with a comedy troupe, ‘Broken Lizard’ and worked as an executive producer for the film Freeloaders in 2011.
